Our two young stallions started their first season of commercial breeding in late 2006. Though they arrived from the US about six months apart, both were about 18mos old when they were imported into South Africa. They have been extensively ground-handled and have developed in to well-behaved gentlemen. Both are now in training under saddle.
Each of the two Paint Horse Africa Stallions has his distinct appeal:
• Leo (2004) was bred to be a sire of sport-horses. He is the image of his own sire, The Spotlight, the APHA World Jumping Champion in 1998. The Spotlight is registered as a Supreme American Warmblood with an incredible overall rating of 8.5. Since his glory show days, this exquisite stallion has gone on to produce gorgeous, leggy Hunt-Seat prospects. At age 3, Leo is just over 16.1h and is expected to finish at 16.2+. Though still new under saddle, he is already proving to be a bold, confident mover. We look forward to introducing him to the jumps when the time is right. Leo is homozygous for the tobiano gene, meaning that 99% of his offspring will have white “Paint” markings.
• Pueblo (2003) is a typical Western-style horse with a fantastic pedigree both top and bottom. His sire, Predominantly Mr, is an AQHA World Champion. Like his own sire, grand sire, and great grand sire, Predominately Mr has produced top champions in halter and western pleasure riding. Pueblo is pure Quarter Horse, with his dam from a line of equally renowned Champion Paint Horses, descended from crop-out Quarter Horses. At age 4, Pueblo stands at 15.1h and is expected to finish at 15.2h. He is a solid, gentle stallion with build and agility characteristic of the Quarter Horse. He has overo markings and will pass these on to 50% to 75% of his foals.
Each of these young stallions have beautiful conformation, full, fluid movement and excellent temperaments. In addition to a live foal guarantee, Paint Horse Africa is also offering a COLOURED foal guarantee for the 2006/7 breeding season for both of our boys. If your mare gives birth to a solid foal, the same mare can be bred back to the same stallion over the following 12mos without an additional covering fee. For more information, please refer to their individual breeding contracts.
Foals by either of our stallions out of registered Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse mares will be eligible for registry with the American Paint Horse Association and the SA Studbook’s Paint & Pinto Horse Club. Foals from other mares will be eligible for registry with the Paint & Pinto Horse Club. It is our intention to have Leo inspected by the SA Warmblood Horse Society in 2007 for pre-licensing purposes.
